BACKGROUND: Better phenotyping of routinely collected coded data would be useful for research and health improvement. For example, the precision of coded data for hemorrhagic stroke (intracerebral hemorrhage [ICH] and subarachnoid hemorrhage [SAH]) may be as poor as
