Karima Chiuri

DPhil Student

Karima joined Oxford in 2017 as a Rhodes Scholar at University College reading for the MSc in Global Health Science; she is currently a first-year doctoral student. She is co-supervised by Professor Dame Valerie Beral and Dr. Isobel Barnes in the Cancer Epidemiology Unit. Prior to Oxford, Karima studied for a BSc in Medical Physiology and an MBChB at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. Karima is passionate about research in health where she currently focuses on women’s health particularly within non-communicable diseases (NCDs). She hopes to garner, and ultimately impart skills towards the bridging the health research gap in Kenya. She hopes that this will influence policy in the longer term and contribute towards the goal of a healthier population.
