How to find us
The Richard Doll Building is situated on the University of Oxford’s Old Road Campus, adjacent to the Churchill Hospital, to the east of the city centre.
Parking on campus is severely restricted and staff parking by permit only. Finding a space can be extremely difficult. Even if a parking permit has been obtained, there is no guarantee that space will be available on the day. We encourage all visitors to use alternatives to driving where possible.
- If coming by car from the east, M40 Junction 8 or 8a, take the A40 then A420 to Headington Centre and follow signs for Churchill Hospital which will bring you to the Old Road Campus.
- From the north, M40 Junction 9, take A34 then A40 Northern ring road, turning off at Marston (B4150), then B4495 towards Headington and follow signs to Churchill Hospital.
- From the south and west, approach from the A4142 Eastern ring road and B 4495.
Visitor parking is very limited and visitor parking permits must be displayed at all times (permits obtainable from Reception only). If all parking permits are in use you will be asked to take your vehicle off site. Parking regulation signs are clearly displayed On Campus. University of Oxford Security Service patrol the car parks and will clamp vehicles found not to comply with the parking regulation requirements.
Visitors and contractors of the University must not park on hospital car parks as they are strictly for patients and visitors to the hospital; non compliance with this rule will attract a Civil Parking Notice
Parking for orange or blue badge holders is Free of charge. Disabled parking and areas for setting down and collecting are available close to entrance of the Richard Doll Building (see map).
Travelling by bus, take the No 4 (Wood Farm) from stop G1 located on St Aldates Road, opposite Christ Church College. The bus stops just before the Warneford Hospital. From here it is a five-minute walk; see bus stop locations on the Old Road Campus map.
There is also a bus that links ORC with Harwell Science Park. The X32/ 32A (connector) departs from Oxford Parks Road, stopping in the centre and goes to Wantage, stopping at Abingdon, Culham, Sutton Courtenay, Milton Park, Didcot, Harwell, East & West Hendred, Ardington and Wantage.
