Chibuzor Ogamba

Chibuzor joined the Cancer Epidemiology Unit (CEU) as a Trainee Fellow in 2023. Chibuzor’s ongoing research is focused on investigating drug repurposing opportunities for the prevention of a wide variety of cancers using large-scale proteogenomic data and cancer GWAS. His current fellowship project is supervised by Dr Karl Smith-Byrne and Professor Ruth Travis. 

Prior to commencing the fellowship, Chibuzor completed his medical degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology from Oxford Population Health in 2023. His MSc dissertation was focused on developing a system for rational drug prioritisation using information from drug label databases and leveraging available protein quantitative trait loci (pQTLs) from large proteomics datasets to investigate the repurposing potential of prioritised drugs for the therapeutic prevention of colorectal, lung, breast, prostate cancer, and multiple myeloma using drug target Mendelian randomisation. 

Chibuzor previously worked at the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre in Lagos, Nigeria as a Research Associate and actively conducted epidemiological studies in Nigeria.
