Post-doctoral Research Associate (Qualitative Researcher)

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Cancer Epidemiology Unit for a Cancer Research UK-funded project on Ethnicity and Breast Cancer, led by Dr Toral Gathani. The project aims to explore the associations of ethnicity and breast cancer and shed light on variations in breast cancer incidence among various ethnic minority groups in the UK.

I completed a DPhil in Anthropology at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology. Using a combination of in-depth interviews, observations, and ethnography, my research unpacked the responses of individuals from diverse backgrounds, state officials involved in implementing Covid-19 policies, and healthcare workers in public hospitals during the pandemic in Pakistan. Further, it explored how their responses are shaped by underlying inequalities along class, gender, and ethnic lines.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing squash and am presently the captain of the Squash Club at Green Templeton College.
